You’re out. Go to first.

I am absolutely fucking furious right now.  The second game of the world series was handed to the Rays (mohawks, cowbells… awesome) on a silver platter by the home plate umpire.  He decided that since he was asian he could make crooked calls, cause he has crooked eyes.

A postgame interview revealed that the homeplate ump (don’t know his name, don’t care, no one will ever see him in a meaningful game again) wanted to make fellow asian William Hungs performance on American Idol look like a goddamn masterpiece.  His first call was shocking.  Rocco Baldelli clearly swung at a pitch, and the ump made the correct call (out).  A moment later he simply pointed at first.  Recap: you swung, your out… go to first.  I swear this happened.  We watched it 14 times.  The umpire seriously said “Your out.  Enjoy the view from first base.”

That call was huge because it extended the inning and allowed the Rays to score one more run making it 3-0. Heres why.

The same professional behind the plate who was hand selected to represent the best umpires in all of baseball decided that even if you are hit by a pitch… you don’t go to first.  Jimmy Rollins was clearly hit by a pitch and should have been on first base and this fucking idiot said he wasn’t hit by it. 

Try to follow this:  If the ump got the call right the first time the score would have been 3-1 in the 9th inning.  In said inning the first hitter, Ruiz, hit a double.  Rollins was next and was hit by a pitch(still had to keep batting) and subsequently struck out.  1 out, runner on second.  The next hitter drove in Ruiz from second base.  This means that Rollins would easily have made it to third from first.  Utley struck out, and then Howard grounded to first to end the game.  This means that if the call was correct on Rollins, there would only have been one out when Howard grounded to first, which would have scored a run.  Game tied 3-3.

Since it was the Rays, the umpire decided that even if you strike out you can go to first.  I don’t have any video of this but when I do you will be shocked.

You’re out.  Have fun going to first.
